A Very White Christmas

We headed back to Canada for Christmas and were not disappointed - we definitely got the white Christmas we were hoping for.

We spent the first bit of the break in Vancouver enjoying the snow and going for walks to get pictures and meeting up with friends. We met up with Sarah's brother, mom and her fiance at a restaurant halfway on Christmas Eve since the snow was going to make it a long drive to go out to Maple Ridge for a proper visit - not quite a Christmas atmosphere but Boston Pizza sure makes good pizza bread. Christmas morning was spent at the Bendall house with Doug still unsure about the policy of breakfast before presents.

Then on Christmas afternoon we flew up to Kelowna in time for dinner with Doug's family. Kelowna was very relaxing and lots of time was spent hanging out and in the "warm" tub (Sarah turned down the temperature on the hot tub so she could go in as well). We headed up to SunPeaks for a night to do Christmas again with Doug's aunt, uncle, cousins and spouses and all of their kids - it was a full dinner table! Then up to Big White for New Years and some skiing. Since Sarah couldn't ski she snowshoed but quickly found out that she is now too heavy for her snow shoes and ended up waist deep in the trees. After struggling to get out she decided that keeping to the trails was a much better idea! Doug only wishes he was there with the camera to catch her floundering around so that everyone could have a good laugh.

Lastly we headed back to Vancouver to catch up with friends (who threw us a fantastic baby shower) before flying out back to London.

The flight home didn't quite go as planned and we ended up sitting on the tarmac for hours in Seattle (thank goodness for Alexis cookies which kept us going) before being told that our flight wouldn't leave until the next day. We got out the next afternoon and it was home and back to work.

Glad you had a good trip and Merry Christmas! We're so sorry we missed you. The baby that was SUPPOSED to come early is still warm, cozy and a future soccer player who uses my ribs as a ball.
