Road Trip

Sarah's parents arrived for a visit and to go to the ashes scattering of her grandparents. So on Easter weekend we headed up to Skipton, where Sarah's dad is from for the ceremony, to visit with family and to see some of the sights.

Our first long drive up was fairly non-eventful with Kian sleeping the whole way - well almost the whole way. Sarah's panicking that he had gone too long without food forced a food break but as soon as the car was moving again Kian was once again off in dreamland. Staying at a hotel was a bit of a challenge since Kian recently decided that 3am was daytime and was wide awake and letting the world know it - one night Doug even resorted to taking him down to the car to not wake other hotel guests.

On Saturday we headed to the Lakes district with every other family in England! Traffic was terrible and although we didn't get long there, the area is beautiful and we are planning on heading back in the fall to do some hiking as soon as Kian is big enough to go into the pack.

On Sunday we saw Sarah's family at the ashes scattering and had the chance to catch up with her cousins and their little ones over lunch at a nearby pub. Once everyone had left we headed to Bolton Abby for a bit of a walk.
There Doug taught Kian how to skip rocks.

And the boys made it out 3 stones before Sarah decided that it looked like very cold water and a bad idea. Maybe in the summer...

There is always time to stop for a kiss while on a walk.

I wish we could take babies to pubs here! You can go in pregnant, but not once they're out!It sure limits burger options!
