A Quick Trip
Leaving Doug at home to tackle mounds of school work I took off to Malaysia with another partner, Caroline. First to KL to visit with Doug's aunt and Uncle who were in town and then up to the Cameron Highlands for some cool weather enjoyment. We went up to KL by train on Monday morning. Although the train is slower then and you don't see any more then on the bus it is much more enjoyable. Reading without feeling sick is the biggest bonus followed closely by being able to get up stretch the legs and use the washroom whenever you want.
When we got to KL the Benoits took us for an amazing buffet dinner at their hotel and seeing the view of the Petronus towers from their room made our view of air con units and water tanks a little less appealing.Tuesday was a trip, organized by the conference that Uncle Glen was attending, to an elephant sanctuary where they rescue elephants from
areas that humans have removed their jungle home to grow crops and move them to the national park. There we got to feed the elephants and the Benoits had their first elephant ride. When we got back to KL we went to the Central Market and then for one last amazing dinner before saying goodbye to the Benoits. It sure was great to see familiar faces from home.Although rain greeted us in the Cameron Highlands it was delightfully cold and wearing a fleece was enjoyably cozy!

The area is beautiful and there are many long walks and hikes and strawberry fields and tea plantations; a thoroughly enjoyable escape
from the Singapore heat. The rain let up a bit on Thursday morning so we made a dash for a quick walk up to a watch tower followed by a tour of one of the tea plantations that dot the area. Then a very long bus ride home, it is a good thing Caroline is so easy to travel with!
