Off to the Races

On Saturday, while Doug played golf with the husband-to-be, Sarah headed out for her second UK hen party for a friend from work. This one was a day at the Sandown Races up in a private box. The event started out badly with Sarah forgetting her ticket at home and having to backtrack on the train, run to another platform as her train was being called, grab her ticket from Doug and jump on the train. But it got better and ended up being a great day. The food was fantastic and from that high up you could see the whole track - a private box is definitely the way to go!

Even though she spend the week reading a Dick Francis Sarah mostly had no idea what was going on and bet on horses based on their names, colours and where they were from (including one with a Canadian parent). This strategy didn't make her any money...

Pictures coming soon as soon as I steal some from other people since I forgot my camera.

Here we go... (thanks Del!)

Sample Sale

Sarah decided to try the London shopping scene by attending her first sample sale. The prices really were great but even at 60% off Sarah still couldn't bring herself to pay for a Dolce and Gabbana suit, no matter how fantastic it looked. She went with the don't try it if you can't afford it strategy but just found herself wanting more money so she could try stuff on - luckily most things were the wrong size anyways. But she did leave with a couple of tops and is kinda looking forward to the next sample sale and has even convinced Doug to go to a menswear sample sale next weekend!

It should be noted that Sarah still doesn't actually like shopping but the sample sale thing is better then malls (who wouldn't like feeling that they get a deal) and she really does need new clothes.
